About USEED

USEED is a powerful new tool for supporting crowdfunding projects.

1

Browse projects and select one that you are interested in

Help fund a campaign and share in the success of innovative and impactful projects.

2

Directly support that project by making a gift

Your gift will go directly towards funding the project you select.

3

Make an optional gift to the Penn State Future Fund

When you make a gift, you will be invited to support the Penn State Future Fund. This additional support—designated University-wide to the people and programs that need it most— is essential to the continued success of our University and its community.

4

Share the projects you support on social media

Maximize your support for each project by sharing it with your friends and family on social networks. Spreading the word helps increase the project's chances of successfully reaching its goal.

  Frequently Asked Questions

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Yes. All gifts received through the USEED are considered donations and are thus tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Donors will receive a tax receipt following gift processing.

Where is my donation going?

100% of your donation will go directly to the lab or department leading your selected project. No portion of your donation will go to credit-card fees or be used to fund the USEED platform.

What if my project doesn’t meet its funding goal?

If a campaign falls short of its funding goal, the funds raised will still be released to the sponsoring department. In the event that a project cannot be undertaken because of the shortfall, the money raised will be retained by the sponsoring college or unit for use on a project with similar goals.

What happens if a project is overfunded?

If a campaign raises more than its stated funding goal, the Office of University Development will work with the project sponsor to determine whether the surplus should be used to enhance the funded project, or be reserved for use by similar projects in the future.
